Civance FAQs

The Plan
What is a nootropic?

Nootropics are any drugs or supplements that are used to boost brain performance. Examples of a prescription nootropic are the stimulants used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Stimulating areas of the brain increase focus and attention in people with this condition.

Caffeine is an example of an everyday nootropic. People worldwide use it to increase attention and decrease fatigue, allowing them to think more clearly.

Is Civance a stimulant?

No, Civance is not a stimulant medication and therefore does not have the side effects associated with stimulant medications, such as:

  • High blood pressure
  • Fast heart rate
  • Insomnia
  • Irritability
  • Weight loss
What is in Civance?

Civance is a combination of four nootropics. These include:

  • Citicoline: a synthetic form of the brain messenger acetylcholine
  • Acetyl L-carnitine: a modified amino acid that supports cellular energy in the brain and is thought to increase acetylcholine levels
  • Blueberry extract: contains anthocyanins and polyphenols, which are antioxidants that can help combat oxidative stress on the brain
  • Huperzine A: inhibits acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine
What is citicoline used for?

Citicoline is a nootropic that is used to support memory loss associated with aging, to help patients recover from stroke, and to help with symptoms associated with glaucoma. It is sold as citicoline sodium (prescription) and citicoline free-base (supplement).

Citicoline is also used to treat Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Research is underway to investigate how it may help with other brain conditions such as bipolar disorder and substance abuse.

What are the side effects from taking citicoline?

Most people tolerate citicoline well. Side effects from citicoline may include:

  • Stomach upset
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Transient headaches
  • Low blood pressure
  • Fast or slow heartbeat
  • Restlessness

How long does it take for citicoline to work?

Clinical trials suggest that it takes six months to reap the neuroprotective benefits associated with citicoline. However, researchers at Harvard Medical School noted a change in the brain after six weeks of supplementation with 500 mg of citicoline per day.

Can you get choline in your diet?

Yes, choline is found in some foods, such as organ meats. However, data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) showed that only 8% of U.S. adults consume the recommended daily allowance of choline on a daily basis.

What does acetyl L-carnitine do in the brain?

Acetyl-L carnitine supports the production of acetylcholine an important neurotransmitter involved in memory and mood. The brain consumes a lot of energy, up to 20% of your body’s energy at rest. Acetyl L-carnitine helps the brain’s mitochondria efficiently use nutrients to make energy for the cells.

Citicoline and blueberry extract also support mitochondrial function by decreasing oxidative stress on brain cells and increasing energy production. In a 2008 study at Harvard Medical School, researchers found that citicoline supplementation increased brain ATP by 14%. This increase in cellular energy was highest in the anterior cingulate gyrus (ACC), a part of the brain involved in focus and attention.

Invigor Medical
Do I need a prescription before I buy from Invigor Medical?

No, Invigor Medical employs doctors licensed in all 50 states, and a medical consultation is included with each medical service. Each patient will receive a valid prescription, which is sent to the pharmacy to be filled.

How long does it take to get my medication?

Once you have enrolled for medical services with Invigor Medical, it usually takes 7-14 business days before items arrive at your home. This process includes an online medical consultation, prescription approval, the medication getting filled at the pharmacy, and the medication being sent to your home.

How do I know if I will be approved?
Most of the services that Invigor Medical offers are elective services. This means that most clients, if there are no restrictive contraindications, will be approved for the medications of their choice.

What is Civance?

Nootropics Improve Brain Function

Civance is a nootropic that provides your brain with the energy and compounds it needs to keep its synapses firing all day long. Citicoline, acetyl-L-carnitine, and huperzine A support acetylcholine production, a neurotransmitter associated with increased alertness, attention, learning, and memory.

Citicoline is a brain-protective supplement that increases choline and cytidine stores in the body. Choline is a precursor to acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter in the brain associated with alertness, attention, learning, and memory. With aging, choline levels decline. Brain cells break down cell membranes to source choline in order to restore acetylcholine levels.

Blueberry Extract and Huperzine A Reduce Inflammation

Blueberry extract is high in polyphenols, antioxidants, and anthocyanin, all of which boost cognitive function and protect the nervous system from oxidative damage. Blueberries have been shown to help prevent cancer, obesity, inflammation, heart disease, liver disease, and declines in cognitive function.

Huperzine A has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine to treat inflammation, swelling, pain, and memory loss. A meta-analysis of 20 huperzine A clinical trials have indicated that huperzine A has potential cognitive benefits. Clinical trials are underway to evaluate huperzine A’s effectiveness as a potential treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

Acetyl Carnitine Is a Proven Supplement for Improving Memory and Reducing Fatigue

Acetyl-L carnitine is a building block of protein that is used to treat a variety of cognitive diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, age-related memory loss, and late-life depression. It is also prescribed to treat fatigue related to chronic disease and used to treat symptoms associated with decreased testosterone levels.

Together these compounds enhance cognitive performance while protecting the brain from inflammation and damage from the byproducts of metabolism.

How Does Civance Work?

Increases Chemical Messengers in the Brain

Citicoline is used to synthesize acetylcholine, norepinephrine, and dopamine in the brain. These chemical messengers are associated with learning, attention, and mood. Citicoline also increases glutathione production and opposes metabolic processes that promote cell death.

L-carnitine is converted into acetyl-L-carnitine by the enzyme carnitine acetyltransferase (ALCAR). Higher levels of acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR) increase acetylcholine, GABA, and glutamate in the brain. As brain cells age, inflammation increases and neurons become less functional. ALCAR is thought to support acetylcholine levels — enhancing memory and attention and improving focus. ALCAR also helps the body produce energy that can be used for muscle movement, brain functions, and much more.

Huperzine A is an extract from the Chinese club moss Huperzia serrata. It is a selective acetylcholinesterase inhibitor that increases acetylcholine levels in the brain, supporting attention and memory. Huperzine A also has antioxidant and neuroprotective properties. It counteracts glutamate-induced toxicity and subsequent damage to brain cells, possibly by interacting with NMDA receptors.

Stabilizes Cell Membranes

Citicoline is an intermediate in the production of phospholipids. Phospholipids are found in the cell membranes of all cells in the body but are especially important for brain cells. Phosphatidylcholine, a component of cell membranes, makes up about 30% of the gray matter in the brain. Gray matter is directly responsible for memory, attention, emotion, speech, hearing, seeing, and brain processing. Stabilizing the cell membranes in brain cells helps protect them from damage and loss of function.

Reduces Free Radicals

Anthocyanins, which are colorful pigments found in the phenolic group, are abundant in blueberries. Blueberry extract is rich in polyphenols, which have potent antioxidant effects. Several clinical trials have been conducted to assess the potential of blueberry extract to improve memory in older adults. Through the brain-derived neurotrophic signaling pathway, blueberries lower oxidative stress in the brain and increase brain function.

Aside from providing cognitive support, foods high in antioxidants, such as blueberries, lower the risk of heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and other inflammatory conditions.
